While watching the first televised Olympic Games in 1960, Zola Salena-Hawkins was inspired to train for the Olymipic’s gymnastic events. She has participated in performances on the Parallel Bars, Rope Climbing and the Balance Beam.
Zola has studied the following: Hatha Yoga, Capoeira Reginal – Angola, Tai Chi Chuan, Yang style, Wu Style Tai Chi Dao 13 form, Tai Chi Sword, Shaolin Cane and Tai Chi Fan. Studying with Master Tam/Tom Tran and Master Robert Hsing, provided her the opportunity to teach at the YMCA and other facilities. She received her Recertification Certificate to teach Tai Chi Chuan through SOHMA with Dr. Daniel Hoover.
